Tidbits # 2

As a result of this week studies, I learned about Diigo and Pixon, which I hadn't heard of before and Twitter which I am familiar with. Diigo is a platform where you are able to create your own digital library. Pixon allows you to create cartoons and avatars which the visual aspects may be easier for visual learners and then Twitter which is a form of social media. 

In Diigo, I would be able to bookmark research articles, highlight passages and make notes and not loose it and since its cloud based as long as I had a strong internet connection I could access my saved work. 

Pixon would work for any visual learners, but would make learning fun by adding cartoon features to the assignments. 

Twitter can be used for sending information quick. 

When it comes to using new digital tools, several challenges arise, such as learning the new program, the time it takes to learn the program and how much the programs cost. ☺

Tidbit # 6

 Identify one way that you can implement a Mobile Device App in your desired career area/classroom. I used to work for our College Marching Band ans we used the Remind app to stay in touch with our members in groups. We had 350 members to keep track of, so we communicated through the app with our groups. For example, when we traveled, we used 7 charter buses. Therefore, the Remind me app was a very convenient and effective way to keep in touch and get the messages to the groups in the other buses. The director could communicate commands to each group. It made it much easier to communicate with everyone that way.  One Challenge would be if the app suddenly crashed. Is it a problem with your operating system, hardware, or other outside conditions. Connectivity could be another challenge to deal with, you also do not want an app that will drain your battery!   Identify three technology tools covered in this module. There were three technologies discussed: the use of blogs, desktop publishing, and mobile devices. Identify one way to implement EACH technology tool in your desired career area/classroom. It would be difficult to implement blogging in my career area because blogging is mostly about your personal views/opinions. As for desktop publishing, we certainly use those capabilities in our jobs, and we use cloud-based systems to store/share documents. Also, we use different websites and programs to perform our jobs more effectively. Mobile devices have become an an integral part of our lives. Among other things, we use our devices to communicate, work, and send emails. One of the challenges of blogging is creating content that engages the reader; one of the challenges of desktop publishing would be the constant changing needs of the user; one of the challenges for mobile devices would be the user's level of technology knowledge. ...
